Joseph Callahan

Mr. Joseph Callahan is currently serving as the Chief of Staff to the Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Mr. Callahan has comprehensive knowledge and expertise in engagement and strategic communications with Congress, Executive Branch agencies, and military departments to advance mission objectives. He also oversees program management activities, including independent qualitative and quantitative analysis of complex Information Technology (IT), Information Management, and Information Resource programs.
From 2013-2019, Mr. Callahan served as a subject matter expert to the DoD CIO on analytical, legislative, and strategic management issues and provided Department-wide management planning expertise. He was responsible for the development of operating procedures; assessments of long-term impact of legislation, IT studies, and Departmental policy on workforce performance; and CIO policies to improve efficiency and effectiveness to meet mission goals, maximize IT utilization, and achieve performance quality uniformity.
Mr. Callahan has served on the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) staff in various capacities since October 2003.
Mr. Callahan served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and is a recipient of the Armed Forces Expeditionary and Service Medals.
