Cybersecurity is Everyone’s Job

Note from DoD CIO:

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month. One of the top priorities for the Department of Defense is dependable mission execution in the face of cyberwarfare by a capable adversary is one of the top priorities. In today’s strategic environment, warfare extends into the highly contested and highly connected realm of cyberspace. Adversary capabilities in these areas will continually expand. Each and every member of the DoD, whether military, civilian, or contractor, and our mission partners has a role in ensuring that our networks stay safe – from business, to the battlefield, and beyond.

Over the next month, you will have the opportunity to learn more about many of the ways that DoD is keeping our networks secure. This site will contain articles and other valuable information on our cybersecurity priorities, tips and tricks to be more cyber secure (both at home and at work), videos from across the DoD that highlight some of the key initiatives being undertaken, and many links to other resources.

While National Cyber Security Awareness Month is a good reminder to focus on being cyber secure, we cannot afford to lose sight of the need to be vigilant every minute of every day of every month of the year. We are all integral to the Cyber security of our networks and our information.

Thank you for all you do to keep DoD safe.

Very respectfully,
Terry Halvorsen
