Defend Against Cyber Attack

Defense Against Cyber Attack Defending DoD missions from disruption by cyber attacks is the highest cyber priority of the DoD CIO.
To accomplish this objective, DoD CIO is sponsoring efforts across the Department to improve DoD’s cybersecurity by:
  • Implementing of cyber basics
  • Maximizing the effectiveness of the cyberspace workforce
  • Integrating cybersecurity into the things that DoD buys
  • Sharing information like best practices and threat data

DoD is implementing cyber basics by initiating a multifaceted cybersecurity campaign in partnership with the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics and U.S. Cyber Command that will drive a culture of cyber accountability across DoD.

The Department’s Cyberspace Workforce Strategy focuses on transforming the cyberspace workforce; improving recruitment, training, and retention; and understanding applicable surge requirements.

DoD is also integrating cybersecurity into the things that DoD buys through means like integrating cybersecurity into the capstone acquisition policy, DoDI 5000.02

Sharing cyber threat information with government and industry is a priority. DoD is improving its information sharing with industry through its Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity / Information Assurance (DIB CS/IA) program. Please visit our Opportunities page to learn more.
